When flights were canceled due to Delta Airlines’ staffing issues, our team worked around the clock to find solutions. Delta’s rebooking options required students and chaperones to be separated across multiple flights, which did not meet safety standards, and no further alternatives were provided by Delta. Our staff then contacted every available airline and checked departures from surrounding airports from New York to Washington, DC, but due to Presidents’ Day travel volume, no carrier could accommodate a group of this size. We also explored motorcoach transportation. The group initially decided against motorcoaches. Once they decided to proceed, they were unfortunately sold out. Participants who were unable to travel received full airfare refunds through Kaleidoscope Adventures and additional compensation directly from Delta. Kaleidoscope Adventures went beyond contractual obligations to secure additional partial refunds from local partners despite all services being prepaid and non refundable. Those who chose to travel independently were informed in advance of the risks associated with independent travel during airline disruptions. However, once they arrived, all trip inclusions remained in place. We even made sure the band director joined the group in Florida. While this situation was outside of our control, we stand by the diligence, transparency, advocacy, and integrity our team demonstrated throughout.
